Gardens at Terraced Houses in Prague

Designing mini gardens for terraced houses in Prague presented a challenge of making the most out of limited space and a sloping terrain. The smaller, triangular-shaped plot allowed for the creation of a spacious deck that extends the indoor living area into the garden. This deck is perfect for relaxation and outdoor dining, while a small upper terrace provides a bonus space for evening gatherings around a fire. This upper level is versatile and could easily accommodate features like a sandpit for kids. Given that the property is a rental, the brief was relatively flexible, allowing us to focus on creating a functional and attractive garden.

The rest of the garden was transformed into a large flower bed, filled with a variety of shrubs and herbaceous plants to provide a lush, garden-like atmosphere and visual appeal.

The neighboring plot, being larger, offers more space for a lawn area, perfect for children's play, as well as a productive garden with vegetable beds and a small tool shed. The south-facing retaining walls were used creatively for growing espaliered trees and fruit bushes, maximizing space while still allowing the client to grow fresh fruit. This design cleverly utilizes both small and large spaces to create functional, beautiful outdoor areas, making the most of every square meter.
