Garden rooms in Jindřichův Hradec, South Bohemia
The garden design for a holiday home in Jindřichův Hradec was an exciting project that involved working with several existing features, including an old swimming pool with a polycarbonate cover. One of the main challenges was the need for a roofed parking area in front of the existing garage, which divided the garden space and was visually exposed from the house's main living area. While this seemed challenging at first, we embraced the garden's fragmentation and used it to our advantage, creating distinct spaces with unique atmospheres.
The first area we focused on was transforming the garden into an extension of the living room. We connected the space with large French doors and a generous deck area, allowing easy flow between the indoor and outdoor spaces. The existing evergreen shrubs were kept as a backdrop to the lighter textures of grasses and shady herbaceous planting, adding depth and softness to the space. To separate this tranquil area from the busier swimming pool and outdoor kitchen area, we used vertical cladding on the parking lot, acting as a visual screen. The pool area was designed to be the perfect space for socializing and entertaining, with a lively atmosphere ideal for long summer days and children's play. The garden plot is then completed with an orchard, featuring a mix of existing and newly planted trees. This is a garden where everyone can find their favourite spot, whether it's relaxing with a glass of wine or a book, or enjoying an active day swimming and playing with kids
