Brewery courtyard, Stráž nad Nežárkou

We had the opportunity to design an outdoor space for a brewery in Stráž nad Nežárkou, South Bohemia, to create a functional and aesthetically pleasing area where visitors could gather and enjoy great beer. The brewery courtyard is surrounded by a mix of historic and modern buildings, and we aimed to seamlessly blend these two architectural styles. The traditional, old stable building provides a charming indoor space to sit and escape the scorching sun, while the large, rather plain façades of the modern plant building offer the perfect opportunity for an industrial-style pergola, which will be home to climbing hop plants. The scale of the courtyard allows for tree planting, ensuring future shade and comfort. To honour the history of the place, we used natural granite for all paved areas, complemented by a hardwood deck in the centre, which doubles as a stage for live music. Our vision was to create a peaceful, inviting atmosphere that would attract people and be filled with life.
